Who We Are

Betiball is an independent football prediction and sports analytics platform, founded in 2025 and operating from the United Kingdom. We are a small team of five people, supported by a network of freelance writers and native-language editors.

We say that plainly because it matters. Betiball is not a large media company and we do not pretend to be one. What allows five people to publish predictions across a very large number of competitions is not headcount — it is automation. Our prediction output is generated by software, not written by hand, and our team's job is to build that software, verify what it produces, and explain it honestly.

Today Betiball is read by people in more than 20 countries and territories, from the United Kingdom and Germany to Nigeria, Vietnam, Indonesia and Brazil. We are early in our journey, and we would rather grow slowly with your trust than quickly without it.

Where It All Began – The Founding Story

The idea for Betiball started in 2024. Frank Merino, a data analyst with a long-standing interest in football and statistical modelling, was watching a match that nearly every pundit had called as a certain win. The result was not the frustrating part. What frustrated Frank was simpler: the pre-match analysis had not looked at the numbers at all.

The commentary had been built entirely on narrative — form impressions, managerial personality, fan sentiment. When Frank later ran the underlying data through his own models — shot quality, expected goals, defensive structure, home and away patterns, fixture congestion — the picture was noticeably different from the one being described on air.

That evening he opened a new document and wrote three words at the top: "Football is calculable."

Over the following months that idea moved from a spreadsheet, to a rough internal tool, to a working algorithmic platform. Betiball launched publicly in 2025 as a free football analytics service, initially covering Europe's major leagues before expanding into lower divisions and other regions as the data pipeline matured.

We are still a young platform. Our models have less accumulated history than long-established competitors, and we think you should know that when you weigh our numbers against theirs.

Meet the Founder

Frank Merino — Founder & Head of Data

Frank is a data analyst specialising in probabilistic modelling and sports data. He built the first version of the Betiball prediction engine himself and continues to lead the modelling work, the data pipeline architecture, and the platform's editorial standards. He is responsible for the methodology described on this page and for the accuracy of what Betiball publishes.

Questions about our models, our data sources, or a specific prediction can be sent directly to info@betiball.com and will reach the team that built them.

Our Mission

Betiball exists to make professional-grade football analytics available to ordinary supporters. For a long time, the most sophisticated analytical tools in football sat behind the closed doors of professional clubs and betting syndicates. The average fan — however knowledgeable — rarely had access to the same quality of information.

We are trying to change that, and to keep the core of it free.

Our mission is not to tell you what to do with our data. It is to give you the clearest and most honest probability picture the numbers can produce, to be open about how it was produced and where it is weak, and then to leave the decision to you.

What We Do – The Platform

Prediction Coverage

  • Football leagues and competitions across Europe, Asia, Africa, North America, South America and Oceania — from the UEFA Champions League down to regional divisions
  • Predictions published daily and updated as new data (line-ups, team news, market movement) becomes available
  • Markets covered: 1X2, Over/Under Goals, Both Teams to Score (BTTS), Correct Score, Asian Handicap, Half-Time/Full-Time, Corners, Cards and Goalscorers

Coverage depth is not uniform. Major leagues have rich historical and contextual data behind them; smaller competitions have far less. Where our data on a fixture is thin, our confidence in that fixture is lower — and we would rather tell you that than hide it.

Sports Coverage

  • Football — our flagship sport and, for now, our primary focus
  • Other sports — basketball and tennis coverage is being developed and will be released only when the underlying data and models meet the same standard we apply to football

Data & Analytics Features

  • Live scores with in-play prediction recalculation
  • Team statistics — form tables, goal averages, clean sheet rates
  • Player statistics — goals, assists, disciplinary records, expected goals (xG)
  • Head-to-head historical records for covered fixtures
  • Match previews and analysis for major competitions
  • Statistical trends identified automatically by our models
  • Value identification, comparing our probabilities against market-implied odds

Betiball Premium

For readers who want more depth, Betiball Premium offers extended model output, higher-confidence value selections, early access to predictions and priority support, on daily, 10-day and 30-day plans.

Premium exists to fund the free tier. It does not restrict access to our core predictions, statistics or live data, and it never will.

How Our Prediction Engine Works

Betiball's predictions come from a multi-layer engine that combines classical statistical modelling with machine-learning refinement. In plain terms:

  1. Data ingestion. We combine licensed sports-data APIs with our own collection systems to gather results, fixtures, line-ups, team news and market odds across the competitions we cover.
  2. Statistical foundation. We apply established mathematical frameworks — Poisson distribution, the Dixon–Coles adjustment, Elo-style rating systems and regression modelling — to produce baseline outcome probabilities for each fixture.
  3. Machine-learning refinement. Contextual factors that baseline models tend to miss — squad rotation, travel and fixture fatigue, tactical match-ups — are used to adjust those baseline probabilities.
  4. Value signal detection. The engine compares its own probabilities against market-implied odds to flag statistically meaningful discrepancies. A flagged discrepancy means our model disagrees with the market. It does not mean our model is right.
  5. Post-match learning loop. Completed results are fed back into the system and models are periodically retrained, so calibration improves as our data history grows.

There is no human editorial intervention in our core prediction output. The numbers you see are the direct product of computation, and are not adjusted to reflect media narratives, commercial relationships or advertising arrangements. Where a human has written or edited something — a match preview, an analysis article — it is presented as editorial content, separately from the model's numbers.

What Our Predictions Can and Cannot Do

This is the section we would want to read first if we were you.

What they can do

  • Give you a calibrated probability estimate for a match outcome, based on data rather than opinion
  • Show you where our estimate differs materially from the betting market
  • Give you the underlying statistics so you can form your own view

What they cannot do

  • They cannot tell you what will happen. Football is a low-scoring, high-variance sport. A team we rate at 65% to win will still lose or draw roughly one time in three — and that is the model working correctly, not failing.
  • They cannot guarantee profit. No prediction model can. Bookmaker margins mean that even a genuinely accurate model can lose money over time if used carelessly.
  • They cannot see everything. Late injuries, unannounced rotation, weather, refereeing decisions and pure chance are either unavailable to us or fundamentally unpredictable.
  • They are weaker in lower-tier competitions, where data is sparse, delayed or incomplete.

If a website tells you it can predict football matches with certainty, or advertises guaranteed returns, that website is not being honest with you. We would rather be useful than impressive.

How We Measure and Report Accuracy

We publish our past predictions so that anyone can check them. Every prediction we have made remains visible after the match is played — you can review yesterday's fixtures and outcomes on our previous predictions pages, and compare what we forecast against what actually happened.

A note on what "accuracy" means in this context. For 1X2 (home / draw / away) predictions, a well-built statistical model typically identifies the correct outcome in roughly 50–58% of matches across a large sample. That range is what serious modelling looks like in a three-outcome sport with high variance. Any figure advertised far above that range should be treated with scepticism — including if you ever see one on our own site, in which case please tell us and we will correct it.

Accuracy also varies by market and by competition. Over/Under and BTTS markets behave differently from 1X2; top-flight European football is easier to model than a regional third tier. We are building a dedicated public track-record page that will break these figures down by market, competition and time period, without cherry-picking. Until it is live, the historical prediction pages above remain the honest check.

Our Team – The People Behind Betiball

Betiball is run by five full-time people, working alongside freelance writers and native-language editors for our non-English content. Between them, the team covers five areas of responsibility:

  • Data science & modelling — building and retraining the prediction engine, monitoring calibration, and validating model output against results.
  • Data engineering & infrastructure — the ingestion pipelines, the live-score systems, site performance and uptime.
  • Product & front-end — the website, mobile experience, and the way data is presented and explained.
  • Football content & editorial — match previews, analysis and explanatory material, plus editorial oversight of anything written by contributors.
  • Growth, partnerships & support — reader enquiries, Premium support, advertising relationships and commercial development.

A small team has a real trade-off: we ship more slowly than a larger company would, and we cannot cover everything at once. It also has a real advantage — when you contact us, you reach the people who actually build the product.

Editorial Standards & Corrections

Because our content deals with money and risk, we hold it to a stricter standard than a general sports blog.

  • Separation of model and opinion. Algorithmic output and human-written analysis are clearly distinguished. Editorial articles never alter the model's published probabilities.
  • Attribution. Written analysis carries an author. Where content is generated or drafted with the assistance of automated tools, it is reviewed by a human before publication and remains our responsibility.
  • Sponsored content is labelled. Any advertisement, sponsored article or affiliate placement is marked as such. Commercial partners have no influence over our predictions or our editorial judgement.
  • No guaranteed-win language. We do not publish "sure bets", "fixed" tips, or claims of guaranteed returns, and we will not accept advertising that does.
  • Corrections. If we publish something inaccurate — a wrong statistic, a broken model output, an overstated claim — we correct it and note that a correction was made. To report an error, email info@betiball.com with the page URL. We aim to respond within two working days.

Beware of impersonation. Betiball will never contact you asking for money, offer "guaranteed" tips through private messaging, or sell fixed-match information. Anyone doing so in our name is a scam — see our Avoid Scam page.

How Betiball Makes Money

You should know who pays for a free service before you rely on it.

  • Advertising displayed on the site, including advertising from betting operators.
  • Affiliate partnerships with licensed bookmakers. If you follow certain links and open an account, we may receive a commission at no additional cost to you.
  • Betiball Premium subscriptions.
  • Sponsored placements and partnerships, which are labelled wherever they appear.

This creates an obvious conflict of interest, so we will state our position on it directly: our prediction engine has no commercial inputs. Our probabilities are not adjusted to favour a partner, to promote a market, or to encourage betting activity. We are paid for attention and for advertising placement — not for the content of our forecasts. If we ever cannot maintain that separation, we will stop taking the money rather than change the numbers.

Our Core Values

1. Mathematical honesty

We do not inflate accuracy claims, publish figures we cannot support, or allow commercial relationships to influence model output. The numbers say what they say — including when that is inconvenient or unpopular.

2. Transparency about limits

We explain our methodology openly, label sponsored content, publish our track record without cherry-picking, and are explicit about where our models are weak. Telling you what we cannot do is part of the product.

3. Free access to the core

Core predictions, statistics and live data remain free. Premium exists to fund the free tier, not to replace it.

4. Continuous improvement

Every completed match is a new data point and every piece of reader feedback is a signal. We assume the best version of Betiball has not been built yet.

5. Responsible engagement

We do not encourage gambling, sensationalise predictions, or present our data as a route to guaranteed income. We consistently remind readers that our numbers are a tool for understanding, not a guarantee of outcome. Reader welfare is not negotiable against revenue.

Where We Are Going

Betiball is roughly a year old. Our priorities for the period ahead are deliberately narrow:

  • A published, verifiable track record broken down by market and competition — our single most important commitment to readers.
  • Better models rather than more markets — improving calibration and data quality in the competitions we already cover before adding new ones.
  • Local-language coverage for the regions where our readers actually are, written or edited by native speakers rather than machine-translated.
  • A personalised experience — following your leagues and teams, with notifications you choose.
  • Careful expansion into other sports, released only when the data and models meet our football standard.

The line Frank wrote in 2024 has not changed: football is calculable. Calculable is not the same as certain, and the distinction between the two is the whole of our work.
